Our clients, a children's author and a TV producer, needed a home office that could also accommodate their ever-growing library of books. We designed a space with both work and storage in mind, creating an environment that is both functional and inspiring.

Having admired the exposed Douglas Fir joists used in our previous projects, the clients were keen to incorporate this feature into their shelving system. Together, we developed a design that extended the joists down the walls to form elegant uprights, providing both structural support and a unique visual rhythm for the custom-built shelves.

At the front of the space, we installed a bifold door, allowing the interior to open fully onto the garden during the warmer months—seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.

To complete the look, the exterior was clad in brushed black timber, giving the studio a modern, contemporary aesthetic that sits confidently within its garden setting.
