Composing studio

Our client is a music producer and composer in need of a dedicated recording studio in their garden. With twins on the way, they needed to relocate their existing home studio to create more space inside the house.

The new garden room was purpose-built to function as a high-quality music studio, designed to house the client's instruments and equipment. However, future flexibility was also considered, should the clients decide to sell the property.

Planning permission was obtained to increase the building’s height—an essential feature for optimising acoustics and accommodating sound panels and bass traps. A pocket sliding door was installed to allow the space to open fully to the outside, enhancing both usability and natural light.

The studio is clad in matt black thermowood, arranged in a contemporary barcode-style pattern, giving the building a striking and modern aesthetic that blends with the garden setting.

To maximise functionality, a hidden storage shed was discreetly integrated to the side of the studio, providing space for gardening equipment without compromising the clean design of the building. This also allowed for an internal cupboard accessed from inside the main room to increase storage solutions.
